In Crafting there are no mistakes just Unique Creations

In
CRAFTING
there are no mistakes
Just
Unique creations

I attempted to paint some candles the other day.
I found that it was difficult for the paint to attach and
There were lots of gaps
I attempted to add more coats of paint and still had some issues.

I woke up this morning with an Idea and ran to the store to get some supplies
I love these colors of nail polish
As you can see it turned out beautiful

I would recommend opening a window or door to air out the house,
I do not like the smell of nail polish, I do like the way it looks on a Candle

There are so many amazing shades of colors and styles to choose from
and of course you have to add some ribbon and lace

The fun ideas with crafting are the ones you choose to try
Don't be afraid to try out some ideas
You never know what you might come up with

These candles could be used for parties, Weddings
And gifts for your guest's

I love crafting because it makes me smile
And sometimes we all need to smile more often then we think

I am thankful for my friends and family who support me with this blog
As you can see, my grammar is not that good.

However, I feel like me again and haven't felt like that in years
I am really having fun, I hope you are as well

What a difference a new Lamp Shade can make

I've had this Lamp for several years
and as you can see its started falling apart

This is what it looked like on my little table in my living room
It truly needs an upgrade. My poor Lamp looks so sad.
I'm no expert and I just try and figure things out as I go.
First you have to find the right Lamp Shade, you can find them at any Craft Stores or Walmart. I found mine at Hobby Lobby.
The starting cost was $5.99 however, it was on sale for 50% off! Yes!!!
One of the issues of trying to replace an old lamp shade, is finding one that will connect with the style of the light Bulb. These new Lamp Shades Clamp on. That makes it so much easier...
I also found that the Ribbon at Hobby Lobby is 30% till tomorrow
I believe after looking at so much Ribbon, I finally found
The Ribbon for my Lamp.
Time to pull out the Hot Glue Gun. (Please be careful, you can really get a bad burn with a Hot Glue Gun)

I am so excited how this turned out.
It makes such a difference with my little table and adds
So much color. I hope you like my new Lamp Shade

I think my table looks so cute and I cannot wait to see what changes I can make next.
What you want to do when you are buying a Lamp Shade with some Ribbon,
Have the store employee measure the Lamp Shade to get the correct amount of Ribbon

Throw Back Thursday With Crocheting

I made this jacket for a friends granddaughter a couple years ago.
I really loved the Button I found. I was so excited for how this Jacket turned out. I had never made any clothing before. I took an adult
pattern and adjusted the size to fit a child.

My first attempt to tatting

I made this jacket for my niece for Christmas a few years ago. I used
the same pattern as the first Jacket. I loved the sparkly yarn and
Just had to use this flower with the Bling

I had this supervisor several years ago and loved hats
So I created this pattern with fur and flowers
I also added a fur scarf to go with the hat
co workers were saying I should sell them but I think
I enjoy giving more then selling.

I'm sure you are wondering, What is this? Well I had a
Co worker who was a go go dancer and I thought it would be fun to
make her a fun outfit.

This one is a favorite
A couple years ago I had this supervisor
who was just so amazing and helpful in so many ways.
I made this hat and scarf for her and she was so excited.
I always try and get to know the personality of the individual before
I make something for them. I love giving gifts

I made over 30 hats last year, I gave some to family and friends
and the rest to the Children's Hospital

This is one of my favorite blankets I made last year around the
Holidays, since I was stuck in bed for over 2 months. The only
thing I could do was crochet.

This also is a square to a blanket I made last year.
I love the star its my favorite

The flower and the hat I made last year for a family member
I love the colors and I also made a scarf to go with it
I was so excited how it turned out and she looks beautiful
Wearing the Hat and Scarf

So many ways to decorate a Candle

First I had to find the right Beads and Ribbon
Remember you can mix colors and even paint the Candles

I found these small candles on sale over at Hobby Lobby
I have so many Ideas that I didn't know what to start with

As you can see, you can put items you want to use next to the
Candle and see what will look the best together

I had so much fun that I created these 3 with flower ribbon
Silver lace Ribbon and beads
Of course I couldn't stop there, so I decided to
Try mixing some Ribbons together with Beads

I am so excited how these turned out
I had so many supplies at home and only spent $4.00 for 8 Candles
These can make really cute Christmas Gifts
Or decorations for parties, events you could make them as center
pieces for each guest to take home

You can have fun with creating your own style
But always remember

Why I Love To Craft & "Always Have Fun Crafting "

This is dedicated to my Grandmother
Ruth Whitten
04/07/1918 - 09/15/2009

This is my GrandMother
Ruth Whitten

It took my Grandmothers passing for me to learn how my grandparents met.
Living in Utah you can imagine why she kept her story to herself.
My Grandpa met my Grandma in a bar in down town SLC Utah.
He and some of his fellow army buddies were sitting in her booth. You see my
Grandma and her girlfriends would go to this bar all the time and sit in the same booth.
The bar tender asked my Grandpa if he and his buddies would mind moving so they could have
there booth back. If you knew my grandma you would know that she was set in her ways, however
I think it was an excuse for her to be able to speak with him.
My grandpa said "why don't we share this booth and I will buy you a beer"
They spoke all night and the next day he took her out on a date.
On there 3rd date, he asked her to marry him. She said yes and then
they sat down together and made plans for there future.
They both agreed that they would only get married if they agreed to never get divorced.
They were married for 67 years when she passed.

My grandpa says he will never get remarried she was his true love and still is...

I am in the blue and white dress
Not sure how old I was when this picture was taken.
I'm thinking maybe 6-7 years of age.
Thats about the time I asked my Grandma Whitten if she would teach me
How to crochet. I used to watch my grandma, my mom and my aunt Maxine always
working on some sort of craft.
If it wasn't Crocheting, Flower Arrangements then it was Decorating Cakes.
My Grandma had so many talents.
One day I asked my grandma if she would teach me how to crochet.
I was so proud of those funny looking purses I made, because I still didn't master how to avoid making everything
into a circle. Grandma was so cute about it and she loved to laugh,. I still miss her chuckles till this very day.

This is one of the many blankets she made.
Every stitch looks so perfect, and she always had a way with choosing the right color themes.
This Blanket is for my great niece Jaylee.
Before my grandmother passed away, she was so attached to Jaylee, every time grandma would hold her, she would
light up with so much love and joy. When Jaylee is a little older I am planning to give this blanket to her.
I will share with her the many fun stories about how important she was to her great grandmother.

Grandma loved to paint and towards the end of her life, she painted all of these treasures.
They sit in my living room and make me smile everyday knowing she painted them
for all of her grandchildren and wanted us to have them displayed.
Everything she made for her family and friends came from so much love.

Sadly, My grandmother passed away September 15, 2009
After 67 years of marriage to my grandfather Max Whitten, Who is a World War II Vet
I grew to love crocheting and making crafts because I had a grandmother
who loved and taught me how to enjoy making things beautiful.
She also taught me to share my talents.
One of my favorite things to do is make gifts for others.
Thank you Grandma for teaching me to

My Obsession With Beads

When it comes to crafting, you can never go wrong with beads
There are so many different types, styles, colors and sizes.
You can find them in the sticker section as well as the jewelry section in any craft store.

I discovered that I could glue these beads together and have a beautiful stylish center piece for my Christmas Snow Flake Ornaments.
You can glue them to Candles, Picture Frames and with Holiday Decorations.

You can even use them with scrapbooking and decorations for your home
Never be scared to mix things up with colors or different shapes
Its exciting when you create beautiful crafts.
You can add beads to the edging of Lamp shades and  mirrors.
So many choices, so little time.
Just remember to
Always
